Day 30 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

Praise Him for the Victory!

As I reflect over the last 30 days, I accept that not every day was I able to maintain a mindset of victory; but I realize that I now have a renewed committment to victorius living. If you shoot for the stars you may fall short, but at least you are out there amongst the stars!

I am eagerly anticipating what God has in store for me! I know that it will be bigger and better than anything that I can imagine. "alliwannadoisact" I know that God will open the doors to make this a reality!

This is also the day to log in the last of my 200 miles! I have 7.39 miles left!! I am going to Memorial Park to do 6 miles this morning and later I will do about 2 miles on the treadmill! I have such a sense of accomplishment.

I first thought of this day as a day of completion. But in our journey to becoming better persons and more Christ-like there is no completion. It is not done until God says it's done! So next month I am going into Galatians 5:22-23 and working on each fruit of the spirit (peace, joy, long-suffering (patience), self-control, goodness, kindness..etc). I challenge you to choose one of the fruits and take a week to work on it. Challenge yourself to be patient for a week or exercise self-control for a week. As we continue to grow, God will give us the strength to succeed!

Day 19 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

Stand Firm

"Fear not; stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will work for you today" (Exodus 14:13) It is so important that we take a stand. When you take a stand you make a declaration of your faith. Do you really believe? Do you really believe he is able to protect you, to provide for you, open doors for you, make a way for you? Once you make the stand, you then must wait for Him to show up and show out! And trust me He will! Sometimes it is at the last minute, but He will provide the lamb in the bush for your circumstances. I have taken a stand with Black Pearl Sings! I will do this show again...Broadway here I come! Now how God is going to work it out, I don't know. But I am going to trust in Him and wait for Him to work it out! On what have you taken a stand? Please share and let's be in prayer with each other.

Filter Your Thoughts

Oh how important is today's message. We really have to watch what we let our minds ponder. If we find that those things are not positive, we need to remove them. We need to constantly think of positive things and positive outcomes. Yesterday I was so upset over the quality of my new headshot that my agent chose. I coud not see my way clear about submitting a photo that had not been touched up. But then I had to sit back and say, "It is not the end of the world. Trust and believe. If she wants the photo, trust her decision and believe that God is able no matter what your photo looks like." I had to change my mental chatter. So I'm encouraging each of us to check our mental chatter. Be careful of the things that we watch, read, listen to and allow others to say around us and to us.

Day 15 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

Live to Give

Well we are half way there! What are some of the things that you have seen manifested in your life so far this month?!!! For me, my sister Olive, has launched a wonderful business that is creating quite the buzz; my brother Nkrumah, has made it to the top 5 in the NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation competition; and I am in development for 3 new businesses and working on a screenplay!!! My prayer is that everything our hands touch prosper and that all of our dreams come true! So dream big! For there is nothing to big for our heavenly father! Ask and you shall receive!

Also, give, give, GIVE! "Give and it shall be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over...(Luke 6:38) Share our resources, share our time and share our talent. We have so much to share. Brad, I like how you are sharing your time and talent tutoring. That is inspirational to me. Keep it up!

Day 14 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

Feed Your Faith

Storing up God's word in our hearts, so when those hard times hit, we can declare his Word over those circumstances. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! God did not give me a spirit of fear, but of victory! Christ is my rock and my salvation! If I have faith the size of a mustard seed, I can say to the mountain move; and it shall move! God shall supply all of my needs! We have to grab scriptures and store them in our hearts, like when squirrels store up nuts for the winter, to be used when the winters of our lives hit! Some of our winters will be mild, but every now and then you can get some pretty rough and cold winters! We have to be prepared.

I ask the Lord to keep blessing all of my friends and family. I ask you to be in prayer for my little brother Nkrumah who is competing in NYMF's Next Broadway Sensation. He made it to top 10. They competed in round one last night. We can go online to DFDTV.com/sensation to see the highlights starting today. And we can vote for him through Wed. Please pray for him and vote for him.

I'm also praying for Susan. Continued strength as you deal with your cousins passing. Hold on to God's unchanging hand. Let me know if you need anything. Even if it is just tea and conversation! Or a good game of checkers!

Declare Blessing

A blessing is not a blessing until it is declared! "Say to them, may the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you His favor and give you His peace" (Numbers 6:23-26) Today we are blessed with creativity, courage, talent and abundance!!!We are blessed with success, supernatural strength, promtion and divine protection!!! Today let's declare blessings all over our families, our friends and ourselves! May everything your hands touch prosper!!!!

Overcome Opposition

1 Corinthians 16:9 says, "A wide door has been opened to me and with it are many adversaries"

As God brings opportunties your way Satan will present many obstacles to distract you, mislead you and ultimately stop you. I feel that doubt is the biggest distractor that he uses. Maybe I'm not good enough, why me, good things never happen to me...etc. We have to trust that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord. Count everything joy! Even in death, look for the joy! Even in sickness, look for the joy! In times of unemployment, look for the joy! If we stay focused on God and trust that he is working everything out for our good, it makes things easier. Doesn't mean we won't feel pain, I mean after all we are still human, but it does mean it makes the pain more tolerable. You know that this too shall pass!

Today's message is have Have an Attitude of Gratitude. Ephesisans 4:29, "Let no foul or polluting language come out of your mouth."

Earlier we dealt with the power of the spoken word. Be careful of complaining. Complaining is based on the attitude of your heart while you are dealing with circumstances. Make the decision to be joyful at all times. Look for the things that you can thank God for ie...Jesus dying for your salvation, the air that you breath, having clothing, being able to use the internet, having the ability to read this blog!!!! Wow, I'm feeling good!

Have a blessed day everyone. Take the time to pray for a friend today and to pray for our leaders. Whether you like the President or not, he is still the President and we are admonished to pray for him.

Day 8 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

"Pursue Your Victory! It's time to rise up and boldly go after your victory! It's time to develop a warrior mentality and proactively pursue the happiness, health and peace that God has promised in His Word!" Wow, such bold words of encouragement!

I also read this today from Iyanla Vanzant:

"A focused, consistent positively motivated and disciplined character is essential to making your life story have a happy ending. If you know that you have been ignoring details, avoiding difficulties and cutting corners, don't blame the process! Don't confuse the absence of discipline with the unreliability of trust. Until today, you may have ben making up a tale about what you want without doing what was required to make it happen. Just for today, till your mental soil with determination. Fertilize your emotional soil with positive words. Plant the seed of your heart's desire with your disciplined efforts."

The Bible says that you will reap, what you sow. We have to sow positive, disciplined behavior in order to reap what we desire for our lives. I have to do more to be more disciplined. Doing enough to just get by and look a certain way on the surface is no longer going to be acceptable to me. I am challenging myself from this day forward!

Day 6 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

I love today's message Be Joyful Always! I love being happy and full of joy! I never forget when this brother at Brentwood said, "The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude." Sometimes I am hit by so many things that seem to just sap my energy and joy right out of me. I hate feeling depressed and despondent. It's hard for me to feel productive during those times. In my life, that I can remember, I have had three very deep bouts of depression. Times when I really felt like I was in a deep hole and did not know how to climb my way out. Because my friends were used to me being the upbeat one all the time, they did not know how to help me or to respond to me, As I reflect on those times, I keep asking myself, "How could you have been joyful during those times? What could you have done differently so that the next time it comes around you are prepared?"..... I don't know the answers yet.

Yesterday went to Memorial Park and logged 5.03 miles!

Day 5 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

Today's passage is entitiled Stand Strong During Adversity. It is based on Ephesians 6:13 which states, "to put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground (Ephesians 6:13). All I could think about was the story Brad shared with me yesterday. Hopefully he will share it with everyone. But Brad took a stand that I was truly impressed with.

I liked in today's passage where it says, "God will not waste anything you go through in life." Everything, good and bad, is playing a role in my growth and development. It is up to me to seek the lessons and to continue to be faithful and trust in the Lord. Some how that thought takes the sting out of those times when things are not going well.

Yesterday I logged 7.51 miles!

Day 4 of 30 Day Prayer and Fast

I so enjoy reading everyone's comments! Your comments help crystallize my understanding of the passage. So keep those comments coming and share with others, so that they can participate.

I've always believed in the power of the spoken word. Today's passage "Declare what is to be...(Isaiah 45:21) reinforced it for me. I loved the part where it says, "Don't look at the facts of your situation. Look at the truth of God's Word. Declare His Truth over your situation until the facts line up with His Word!" At this time I am unemployed and my accounts are diminishing quickly. But I know that God says in His Word that he is a provider. That I am a conqueror for I can do all things through Christ and that God rewards faith. So I am trusting in the Lord that everything is going to be alright!

In the meantime, I am also getting up every day doing something whether it is contacting theaters, working on monologues, meeting with my agent, redoing headshots, reading the trades, developing business ideas, working out....I am doing something every day to position myself for when God presents the opportunities. I can't wait to see what God does next!

Susan, first welcome, you don't have to give up anything big. This month I've given up alcohol, sweets, caffeine, red meat and television. I'm also logging 200 miles. You do not have to do all that. You can decide no video games for the month. It doesn't have to be big. Just something you enjoy. Then each time you think about doing it this month, you substitute it instead with a prayer.

Yesterday was a busy day. I logged 3.08 miles.

Day 3 of 30 day Prayer and Fast

Yesterday did not go very well. I started out upbeat and then things seemed to crash. Well that feeling did not get to stick around long! I read Brad's comment, I prayed, I received feedback from my agent and then went to mid-week worship. The minister spoke on "Don't let them take your song!" There is a joy and a strength that God has given us on the inside and we have to rely on it. It comes from God and he replenishes that strength as long as we keep drawing closer to him.

Today's word really hit home! Maybe my frustration yesterday is because I was geting caught up in busy work! When I asked if it was moving me toward my destiny/vision I realized that it really wasn't! This is the time that I need to work on myself as the product. Not create a product for someone else. That strength is revealed when you trust in your gifts and abilities.

Ask yourself those questions. They really hit me in my gut this morning!

Day 2 of 30 day Prayer and Fast

Today says to develop a vision of victory. "Behold I am doing a new thing. Can you not perceive it?" (Isaiah 43:19) I am expecting favor today! I am expecting God to bless me today, so that I may be a blessing to others.

Be in prayer for me today as I am seeking to start a new venture.

I decided that I am fasting from television this month. I am also going to log 200 miles. Yesterday I logged 6.74 miles so I have 193.26 to go!

Today starts 30 days of prayer, fasting and victorious living! All who have been invited into the prayer circle feel free to introduce yourself. I am excited and expecting great things in the month of Sept. In some arenas, Sept is the start of the fiscal year. Well this is the beginning of our new year- a new way of thinking! "No man has ever seen, heard or even imagined the wonderful things God has in store for those who love the Lord (1Corinthians 2:9)

As you are praying for big things this month decide on one thing to give up. One way to fast is to eat breakfast before 8 am and then eat again after 6 pm. Or you can decide to eliminate alcohol, sweets or any other food you enjoy. Or you can decide to give up tv, video games, comics or something else you enjoy. But think of one thing to give up during this period of expecting great things!
